Takasago Onsen provided a delightful insight into Japanese tradition, perfectly blending relaxation and cultural experience. The rooms with tatami flooring and futon were a lovely homage to the local style, allowing for a comfortable night's sleep. During my stay, I explored the numerous pools, each offering a unique temperature and atmosphere. The public bath was a tranquil retreat, while the sauna facilitated ultimate relaxation. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor hot spring, which offered spectacular views of the city—a serene backdrop to unwind. Even as a history teacher, I found the variety of entertainment options both nostalgic and amusing; the arcade room filled with retro games was a welcome surprise. The staff, while not fluent in English, communicated effectively using Google Translate, ensuring a smooth experience despite the language barrier. Breakfast was not a miss either, with the convenience of early service appreciated. Takasago Onsen stands as a charming spot for those seeking a traditional onsen experience in the heart of Asahikawa, inviting travelers to rejuvenate amidst genuine Japanese hospitality.
